Carl Barat

Carl Barat

Carl Barât is an English musician, actor and author. He is best known for being the co-frontman with Pete Doherty of the garage rock band The Libertines. After a dispute between Barât and Pete Doherty that led to the breakup of The Libertines in 2004, Barât founded Dirty Pretty Things and was their frontman and lead guitarist until the band's breakup in 2008. He released his self-titled, first solo album on 4 October 2010. The album was mastered in New York and was the first album released through his own self-funded record label Arcady, but distributed through PIAS Recordings. In an interview with C.B.Liddell of Metropolis magazine he described the album as "the first album I've done that is kind of introspective rather than escapist." In the same interview, he also talked about "stepping away from big loud guitars" as the album is stylistically more diverse and less rock-oriented than previous work.
