Kenkodie

Versatility and consistency is something that every artist strives for to stay relevant, but is something that comes naturally to Kenkodie, who is always one step ahead with his unstoppable creativity, demonstrable in his ability to have his melodies humming in your thoughts long after you hear his music.

Creator of refreshing beats and catchy melodies, Kenkodie is one of the most exciting talents emerging in the UK. Born to Congolese parents and moving to the UK at five years old, his influences offer him a worldly buffet of music, defining his musical palette. From listening to Kofi Olomide, as well as being introduced to Moroccan and Senegalese music through childhood friends, his family influence of French pop and hip hop and not forgetting the most influential pop great to many, Michael Jackson, all combined, were part of the early encouragement for Kenkodie to express himself in his aspiration to a career in music.

Having been diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease since birth Kenkodie struggled with regular hospital visits throughout his life, having a traumatic blood transfusion at just twelve years old. His illness made him question his dreams of the entertainment world, but ultimately what he felt held him back had a dramatic shift and drove his 'go getter' attitude, making Kenkodie even more determined to stamp his mark!

A number of things then helped shape his musical fate. Kenkodie's inspiration heightened when he discovered Pharrell Williams. His image, what he was about, and the sounds he introduced him to intrigued Kenkodie into researching Pharrell's back catalogue and he discovered almost every song he had produced was what he'd grown up listening to. He represented a huge part of his life. Kenkodie's hunger grew as he then fell upon Kanye West. Kanye's near death experience and the pain in his music was something Kenkodie was touched by. The all-‐round producer/artist appeal became his passion.
The final motivation came when his older twin sisters played him a song demo they had recorded and he was in awe, fuelling his competitiveness to do it himself and be able to create something that could impact people in the same way. Kenkodie started researching music production and downloaded Cubase. He set up a home studio in his bedroom and began practising and teaching himself the art of sound until he perfected his own.

He formed a crew, Sky High and began producing for the team, writing and vocalising catchy choruses and building his presence as an underground producer in his area of East London. When the group parted ways for various reasons Kenkodie became even more adamant to adopt a DIY attitude.
Listening to a preview into his catalogue of beats and songs he has created since, his innovative originality cannot be rivalled, from rap & R&B ballads and fun hip hop jerking beats, to Ibiza anthems and future club classics his energetic visions are ripe for fruition.

The musical layers offered in the young producer/artist sound controversially combine rap, dance and indie influences creating a unique presence which is hard to ignore, and won’t be for long. Don’t say we didn’t tell you so!

Kenkodie has begun working on his solo EP and is breaking down the urban/commercial barrier to unify music moguls and mainstream masses under one music-‐loving roof!
