Uman

Uman

Jonas Ullmann aka Uman was born in New York City in 1980. In 1991 his family moved back to Zurich Switzerland. In his youth, Jonas was a drummer for various bands, until he stumbled upon Grooveriders "Prototype Years". This was like nothing he had ever heard before. From that point onwards there has not been a day that passed where drum and bass was not present. In 2001 Jonas met Aaron through a mutual friend and formed Task Horizon. About a year later they had their first release on Traces DSCi4 imprint. The years following that Task Horizon put out tunes on various labels in the US and the UK but Jonas had a more back seat role and eventually felt the need to start his own projects. He started off with a project called The Passive Resistance which in the year of its creation won the M for Music award (swiss music awards) for best electronic act. The Success of The Passive Resistance recently landed them two gigs at the South American Music Conference in Equator and Panama. After having putting drum and bass on the back burner for a while Jonas was drawn back to his old ways and in 2008 started his solo project Uman.Even though Uman as a project is still very young you can look forward to many upcomming releases on labels such as Bad Taste, Viper, Timeless, Unique and Uprising. Uman's music has been getting heavy plays by the likes of Bad Company, Hype, Ed Rush & Optical, High Contrast, Pendulum, Sub Focus, State of Mind, The Upbeats, Mindscape, Cause4Concern.... Uman's music is big, organic and radical. A fresh breeze in the ever more formulaic dance music scene. Catch Uman live and you will hear the seamless gap between solid production and a talented DJ. He plays a wide array of drum and bass, most of which having a techy underground edge to it. And loves to keep the ravers on their toes with a fast paced onslaught of current and classic drum and bass tunes.
