Whiskycats

Whiskycats

Whiskycats are a band from Manchester that play an unusual mixture of English folk-inflected pop with funky brass. In an age of music where everything seems formulaic and pop music is constantly regurgitated for ‘safety’ reasons, Whiskycats provide a hazardously original Vaudevillian alternative. Their authentic sound and unique theatrical approach to performing has prompted people into saying that they are the best live unsigned act around. Widely considered to be one of the most exciting and original live acts around, WhiskyCats have gigged relentlessly around the UK, converting audiences into fans and fans into devotees.

Production on their eponymous debut album was completed in late 2007 at The Charlatans’ Big Mushroom Studios and at legendary guitarist Johnny Marr’s home studio. At the controls was veteran Manchester producer Jim Spencer, renowned for his previous work with Black Grape, New Order and The Charlatans. The album was released in April 2008.
